Don't get it twisted - Benin holds a significant position in the hierarchical order of Yoruba land, as the descendants of Odole Oranmiyan, the son of Oduduwa Atewonro from Ile-Ife - the source. Historically, Yoruba and Benin people share a strong bond as brothers, connected through their common ancestor Oduduwa.
They share Yoruba names, worship Yoruba deities like Ogun, Oya, Olokun, and others, and even hold Yoruba Kingship titles - Oba. However, some individuals in Benin have been misled by false narratives, distorting history and claiming that Benin people are not Yoruba.
They have even gone so far as to create fictional characters like Ekhalederan, Izoduwa, and Omonoyan to justify their flawed argument.
