ODU IFA OGBE IRETE

There is another interpretation of AGBONIREGUN in Ogbe-Ate which I personally describe as an assertion that's most acceptable and reliable for now, not because of its epic storyline of which it is not but because there is proof that it is an extract of a stanza in Ogbe Ate. The stanza and interpretation in Ogbè-Atè goes thus :

Àgbon mà n'ìwà

Díá fún Òrúnmìlà 

Baba nsunkún òhun ò r'írègún

Ire so 

Ebo ní wón ní kó wáá se 

Ó gb'ébo, ó rú'bo 

Njé, ìrègún Aje 

Ìrègún mà ni o 

Àgbon mà n'ìwà

Ifá jé kí n r'írègún ire so o 

Ìrègún Aya 

Ìrègún mà ní o 

gbon mà n'ìwà

Ifá jé kí n r'írègún ire so o 

Ìrègún omo 

Ìrègún mà ní o 

gbon mà n'ìwà

Ifá jé kí n r'írègún ire so o 

Ìrègún Ogbó

Ìrègún mà ni 

gbon mà n'ìwà

Ifá jé kí n r'írègún ire so o

Translation : 

Àgbon is of good character 

Cast Ifa for Òrúnmìlà 

When weeping in lamentation of not having a positive reproach in life 

He was advise to offer Ebo 

He complied 

Behold, reproach of Aje is a good one 

Coconut is of good character 

Ifa, let me have a positive reproach in life 

Reproach of good spouse 

Is a positive reproach

Coconut is of good character 

Ifa, let me have a positive reproach in life 

Reproach of good children 

Is a positive reproach

Reproach of longevity is a positive reproach

Ifa, let me have a positive reproach in life.

Story : Orunmila was weeping in lamentation of not having a positive reproach in life. He had no money. He had no wife. He had no place of his own which he can call home. Òrúnmìlà had virtually nothing he can lay claims to as an achievement to his existence in life. Could it be that he's destined to live like this? Could this be Olodumare's design for his life? Could this be a target from his, Òrúnmìlà's, enemies? Or could it be as a result of his deficiencies in decision making? Could this be as a result of inadequacy in his daily activities...? 

These are few of thousands of abstracts that run through Òrúnmìlà's mind on a daily basis.

In fear of what could be his fate in his old age in life if he continue in trend of this abject poverty and state of penury, Òrúnmìlà quickly went for Ifá consultation from the aforementioned Awo.

Would he be able to have reproach of a good wife, loving and wonderful children, a comfortable home before his old age, these were Òrúnmìlà's inquiries during consultation. 

The Odù revealed was Ìretè-Ogbè. The Awo assured Orunmila that he would achieve all his heart desires in life. The Awo advised Òrúnmìlà to offer Ebo with four pigeons and feed Ifá with four coconuts (Àgbon). He complied. True to the promise of Ifa, Òrúnmìlà begins to experience a retrospective turn around in his life. His business starts to boom. He begins to have a balanced income and expenditure with a reasonable net worth. He begot a comfortable home. All these attracted so many women to Òrúnmìlà which he was able to select the very best amongst them. Within a year, Òrúnmìlà found himself in the reality of a world which only existed in his imagination before. He lived happily ever after. The lived the rest of his life in praises of his Awo and the awo was praising Ifá and Olódùmarè.  Whenever people of affluence are talking and giving accounts of their positive reproach in life, Òrúnmìlà always have series of reproach to lay claims to. He would say " ìrègún Ajé ìrègún mà ni o (reproach of incessant inflow of money is a positive reproach).  ìrègún Aya ìrègún mà ni o ( reproach of compatible spouse is a positive reproach ). ìrègún Omo ìrègún mà ni o (reproach of lovely children is a positive reproach). ìrègún ile-kíkó ìrègún mà ni o (reproach of comfortable home is a positive reproach). ìrègún Ogbó ìrègún ma ní o (reproach of longevity is a positive reproach). Ìrègún iregbogbo ìrègún mà ní o (reproach of all encompassing ire is a positive reproach). Whenever Òrúnmìlà is asked how he achieved all his lots of positive reproach within the period of one year, "what is the aid to your positive reproach Òrúnmìlà (kíni ìdí ìrègún-ún re Òrúnmìlà)"? He usually responds "Coconut is the aid to my positive reproach (Àgbon ni ìrègún mi o)" That was why Òrúnmìlà is usually referred to as BABA ÀGBONÌRÈGÚN meaning father of positive reproach. 

It was until Òrúnmìlà fed Ifá with Àgbon before he could give account of positive reproach in life and that's what prompt his response to people that Àgbon is his reproach (Àgbon ni ìrègún mi o).
