Happy Independence day to Cameroon!!!

Today marks the 62nd Independence day for the French Cameroon, also known as Africa in miniature" because of its geographical and cultural diversity.

Cameroon officially the Republic of Cameroon (French: République du Cameroun), is a country in Central Africa and West Africa. It is bordered by Nigeria to the west and north; Chad to the northeast; the Central African Republic to the east; and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo to the south.

Futhermore it distinguishes itself out of 17 African countries by being the first country to gain independence in 1960 from France under President Ahmadou Ahidjo. The first nationalist party, the Cameroon People’s Union (UPC), managed by Felix-Roland Moumie and Reuben Um Nyobe, demanded a thorough break with France and the establishment of a socialist economy. Due to that French officials suppressed the UPC, leading to a bitter civil war, while encouraging alternative political leaders which led to their independence.

Cameroon is home to over 250 native languages spoken by nearly 25 million people.

Cameroon is well known for processing coffee, cocoa, cotton, bananas and oilseeds and has some of the richest flora and fauna found in Africa. May Cameroon live to be its greatest.
