Adieu Aku Uka of Wukari, Dr Shakarau Angyu Masa Ibi (CON)

The remains of Aku Uka of Wukari, Dr shakarau Angyu Masa Ibi CON who died 10th October 2021 was yesterday buried (pankya) in a rather terrifying; but interesting way, after all the necessary traditional burial rites of the Jukun people. His body was sealed in a funeral calico, his crown was placed on his head, then made to sit on a horseback alongside a rider; and they rode for several kilometers behind thousands of Jukun people in a broad daylight, with barefoot and bare-chest.

According to their Shugaban Matasa, (Youth) the youths join in procession for the final traditional transition Pankiya of their late King AKU-AKA. His corpse was mounted on a horse supported by the rider who rode straight to Nando to join his ancestors .

At a point to Nando only the person on the horse with the corpse will advance to Nando and the person may not return alive.

Substantial amount was offered to his family.

What was interesting for me was that the event was done largely under cameras. That means, culture is documented and no room for lies in the guise of history.
