They are called the Maasai, not Masai. They are also the most documented community in Africa, and reside on the plains of southern Kenya and northern Tanzania.
They are responsible for naming various places in both countries. For instance, Kenya's Capital - Nairobi - was named after the Maasai words - Enkare Nairobi - meaning 'A place of cool waters' , while Tanzania's Serengeti National park was named after the word -Serengeti- which means 'Endless Plains'.
