Ori

Ori, literally meaning "head," refers to one's spiritual intuition and destiny. 

Ori is the basic of our personality, it decides about our good and bad luck that is why our Ori (the place in our head) is the most important thing we have, something that we should worship in our life. It is human beings are able to heal themselves both spiritually and physically by working with the Orishas to achieve a balanced character, or iwa-pele. 

When one has a balanced character, one obtains an alignment with one's Ori or divine self. It is also believed that Ori be worshiped like Orisha. When things are not going right, Ori should be consulted. And to make things right Ori should be appeased. This is because whatever one becomes or whatever happens in one's life is as destined by Ori... 

Another way of worshiping Ori, is the way of worshiping Ori by ritual, called BORI. This way is more complex. It involves certain procedures and is performed by certain people who are qualified to do it. This is a ritual through which we feed our personal god and honor him to be nicer to us. Moreover we do this ritual for our Ori, our personal god, to be present and attentive in our life, so he can be at our service all the time. Ori is something of a significant importance and something we all possess, therefore in the philosophy of Orisha Ori is the first divinity – the first energy, which needs to be worshiped. Our individual Ori is the one, who creates the conditions for all other divinities, regardless of religion we belong to, to exist in our life. I have my Ori and this Ori is my personal divinity. All other gods, from whichever religion, all depend on how my Ori receives their messages. Each individual is the basis for gods.. 

PRAYER TO ÓRÌ

May the Creator of Destiny always be by my side to direct my steps and guide my destiny.

May the light of the day and darkness of the night always work for my favor to fulfill my life destiny.

Just as life currents work in the favor of those who know the path of light and wisdom.

May all the energy of the universe work in my favor and support my desire. 

May my legs take me to where my destiny will be fulfilled and attained its fullness.

May all divinities continue to bless me and guide my life now and in the life to come.

May all loved ones attract the blessing from Ólòdumàré , and may I witness divine protection and blessing till the end of the year and the beginning of the next year, and attract abundance till the end of my life.
