The Duke takes "Awo" and "Aremu" to Glover Hall

The enormity of what I have set out to do hit me this morning.

I suddenly woke up at 3am and screamed. I jumped out of the bed and ran naked smack onto the wall hit my head and fell on my back with a swelling on my head.

Who delivers two not only major but historic Productions featuring two iconic  figures- "Chief Obafemi Awolowo" and "Chief Olusegun Obasanjo".

Who pulls in two internationally respected Directors- Prof Ahmed Yerima and Makinde Adeniran and puts together a cast and crew of over 500 people launching the biggest theatre outdoor Advertising campaign that will cover the whole of South Western Nigeria  and drops one of the most exciting outings at the prestigious Glover Hall for a robust 8 shows spanning one month.

God, the budget is crazy, during negotiations with Makinde the massively influential writer and Director of "Awo", I went to pee 6 times.

We fought, begged each other, shouted and laughed even as he kept saying, "Edgar it's AWO, Edgar it's AWO and me I will be saying, Makinde show me the money, Makinde show me the money."

"Awo" and "Aremu" will redefine how theatre is produced.  It will form a watershed in not only the history of theatre Production but also in how theatre is being funded.

A super funding strategy is already in place and will see AWO anchoring the push bringing in the funds for the one month above N50m extravaganza.

The wonderful Duke of Shomolu online Ticket distribution platform which was debuted in *Ibiom* will be unveiled enabling world class audience management and Ticket sales.

Already the Larger Awolowo Family has shown significant interest in the production and have already jumped into the fray.

Aremu with the robust support of the OOPL Presidential Library, already had it's command performance in Abeokuta last year and will resume its nationwide run with the Lagos showing before continuing and moving Nationwide.

As I lay on the floor, I see the Glover Hall. Built in 1887 but recently refurbished by Gov Sanwo-Olu,  it comes with a 950 seater capacity,  reordered fittings and sweet ambience, audiences will watch these two productions in the comfort of its bowels.

I remain excited. I should be because I can boldly claim that this has never happened in the history of theatre confirming the mantra that if you can think it, you can do it.

"Awo" and "Aremu" will play every Sunday in August at the scenic Glover Hall in Lagos.

....don't take your bath remain vigilant.
