DOESN'T SHE DESERVE ANY SYMPATHY?

Years back, when I was living in Lugbe, a suburb in Abuja the FCT, quite a number of girls lived in a compound adjacent to me and they were strictly living off on men.

They would go out at night and come back home the following morning. They made everyone around the place angry. They were so noisy and never cared who felt hurt by their actions.

A day came that the landlord had to quit and force them out. Their properties were thrown out of the house. All the other girls found somewhere else to relocate to except one.

The only girl left behind couldn't move. She kept her things on the house passage and do sleep out there most nights.

The other tenants met to strategize on how to push her and her belongings out. But one woman stood against the idea and asked them, 'What would we have done if this girl happened to be our daughter, sister or relative?

“Yes, she and her friends have made wrong choices just like we all have one way or the other made in the past but God still held us close to His heart and saved us all. What would Jesus do if He is one of us right here talking about this girl? Let us just do what He would do".

Everyone was quiet. Nobody could further argue with the woman and no one suggested a way to help her.

The woman spoke with her husband afterwards and they agreed to bring the girl inside their apartment.

The woman and husband invited the girl into their house and told her their decision. And what shocked her was when the woman said to her, 'We know what you do for a living. You are free to go out at night and come back the next day. Our food is your food, our bed is your bed. Live like one of us. We are not bringing you in to judge you. We will keep praying for you until your spirit agrees with you to change.". The girl was dumbfounded.

At night,  she couldn't go out. The following night,  she couldn't go out. Going out to look for men became a difficult decision for her. She joined the family for morning devotion and church services.

One day,  the woman called her and told her of her husband's decision to see her through University.  That was how she gained admission into the university . She graduated as one of the best students and got a good job.  Even before she graduated, she has found a business that she managed to establish.

If you enter her business office,  she had the woman's picture on the wall with the inscription,  'My mother, the only Christian I met on earth''.

What is love?  The human senses cannot answer to this question.  The human opinion hates to sacrifice for it. We always have a reason why we have to resist love.

The truth is, 'while we were yet sinners,  Christ died for us''. Why would a righteous man die for sinners? That's what love does.

What can you do for someone even against your finest opinion against the person? All the people we don't love to forgive deserve forgiveness. That is the sacrifice love makes.

Love is not in the practice of looking for someone to condemn and look down on.

How many people have you taken home from church after service and fed? Does it mean that the only way you can protect yourself is to keep people in the church from reaching out to you? You call yourself a Christian but inside your heart, you have vowed that your door won't be opened to your fellow brethren.

You hate to talk to people that look like prostitutes but who do you think that Jesus died for? You look at boys that look shaggy and shake your head in disagreement and warn everyone around you to avoid such people but what kind of people do you think that heaven is waiting up there for?

We are losing the purpose of life with the opinion that we have almost achieved it.

Please let's love one another and be a blessing to someone.

Can someone say of you, I met a true believer in you?

Share as a Witness of the LORD
