Ifá teaches that every human spirit inherits from his or her egúngún (ANCESTORS) a special potential to influence and act upon the world & that each one must identify, explore and exploit in order to produce a more meaningful impact in the world.
Iwori g’osun-g’osun
San’wo odo poroporo
Dia fun onigosun
Omo a bo eegunle baba re nitori iregbogbo
Omo a bo oosa kan widinwidin ti n’be lale oja
Ebo ni won ni ko se
O gb’ebo, o ru’bo
N’je ero ipo ati t’ofa
Egungun ile wa la wa bo
K’awa o too f’oju kan ire.....
Translations:
Iwori pounds osun continuously
Swinging his hands in the mortar actively in work
This was ifa’s message for onigosun
He who propitiates the egungunin in his father’s land
for all encompassing ire
He who propitiates an elegantly decorated orisa
Placed at the marked square
He was adviced to offer ebo, he complied
The habitants of ipo land
The habitants of ofa land
It is the egungun of our lineage that we propitiate
Before we achieve all encompassing ire.
