What's the Best Time of Year for a Connecticut Wedding?

If you have recently become engaged, the first thing you need to figure out to begin planning your wedding is the date. The month you choose for your ceremony can depend on factors such as the weather, holidays, work, or other considerations. You should weigh all these variables when choosing the best date for your wedding.

If you love the winter, January can be an ideal month for a wedding. You can go with a Winterland, Fire and Ice, Snow Land, or Blue Ice theme. Just keep in mind that it will be cold, and there is the ever-present chance of snow, which may complicate travel plans for out-of-town guests. Some people may also not be able to take time off or afford to travel so soon after the holidays.

Many couples choose to get married in February on or around Valentine's Day. It is one of the most romantic times of the year, but remember that the weather can be unpredictable. Also, flowers tend to be a bit more expensive than at other times of the year.

If you choose to have a March wedding, your wedding party and guests can wear spring colors. Spring flowers may be beginning to bloom, but it can still be chilly. There is also the chance of a rain storm, or even some late-season snow. April is the beginning of spring, a beautiful time of year for a wedding.
The warmer temperatures mean you may be able to hold an outdoor ceremony, but be aware of the possibility of a spring rain shower. If you choose to hold an outdoor wedding, be sure to have a back-up plan in case of rain. In May the weather is warmer, and the spring flowers are in full bloom. It's a great time for an outdoor wedding, but keep in mind that, like April, there is still the threat of rain, so be sure to have a back-up plan if you plan to get married outside.

June is one of the most popular times of year for a wedding. It is warm, but the extreme heat of the summer has not yet arrived. Consider your guests' comfort if you are planning an outdoor wedding, since formalwear can get a little uncomfortable if the weather turns out to be warm on your wedding day. An evening wedding in a garden decorated with lights can be beautiful and memorable. Since June is such a popular time for weddings, you will need to book your venue early to get the date of your choice.

July and August are the hottest months of the year, and generally not ideal for a daytime outdoor wedding. If you are planning a summer wedding, consider a less casual outdoor ceremony in the morning or evening, or hold the event indoors. If you decide to get married outdoors, be prepared in case there is an unexpected thunderstorm.

September is the beginning of fall, which means the temperature is starting to cool off and the leaves are changing color. This can be a beautiful time of year for an outdoor wedding. There is also less of a chance of thunderstorms. Keep in mind that this is also back-to-school season, so some of your guests may have travel or budget constraints that could affect their ability to attend.

In October it is a little cooler outside, but the cold of winter has not yet arrived. The leaves have all changed to beautiful shades of red, orange, and gold. The back-to-school season is over, and the holiday rush has not yet begun, which could make this a good time to hold your wedding.

November is the same month as Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season. If you choose to get married then, you can incorporate a holiday theme into your wedding ceremony and decorations. If you get married in December, the festive atmosphere and holiday decorations can enhance the beauty and enjoyment of your wedding. Keep in mind that many businesses also hold their holiday parties in December, so if you choose to get married in that month, book your venue early.

Consider your budget when choosing your wedding date. June, August, and September are the most popular months for weddings, so prices will probably be higher. January, March, and December are less popular times to get married, so you may be able to find better prices.

Think about the holidays when choosing your date. For example, you may want to get married around Valentine's Day or choose a long holiday weekend for your ceremony to make it easier for out-of-town guests to travel.
Ask people who you absolutely want to have at your wedding, such as family and close friends, if they have any conflicts, special events, vacations, or work or school projects coming up that might prevent them from attending your wedding on a particular date.

When picking your wedding date, consider your favorite time of year and whether you want an indoor or outdoor wedding, as well as your budget. No matter what time of year you choose, you can plan a wedding that you and your guests will remember forever.
