Things To Do In Delaware

Home For The Holidays

As the temperatures continue to fall and we get closer to the end of the year, festive celebrations abound in Delaware's Quaint Villages! Read on to learn about opportunities to indulge in holiday cheer with friends and family.

Small Business Saturday in Downtown Dover

Finish up your holiday shopping and support local businesses at the same time! Head to downtown Dover to take part in the fun! With sidewalk sales, a craft fair, and activities for kids, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Cider Fest at Fifer Orchards

It might be getting chilly outside, but that won't stop us from enjoying merry celebrations at Fifer Orchards. On November 25th, December 2nd, and December 9th, visit the Orchards and browse the Country store for gifts and fresh fruits and veggies. Once you've finished holiday shopping, take part in a free farm tour (by way of tractor or wagon), eat marshmallows by the bonfire Christmas trees, and of course, drink lots of apple cider. Stop by anytime from 10:00am to 4:00pm – but keep in mind Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting from 12:00pm-2:00pm.

Harrington's Christmas Tree Lighting and Caroling

Enjoy the beginning of the season by taking part in Harrington's Christmas tree lighting! Lake Forest choruses set a jolly mood, as we gather together in Freedom Park with hot chocolate and holiday treats.

Capitol Holiday Celebration

Looking to get into the holiday spirit? Join us in Downtown Dover on November 30th from 5:00-8:00pm! There will be activities for the whole family to enjoy. With caroling, arts and crafts, food trucks, and carriage rides, there is something for everyone at this grand celebration of holiday cheer.

First Friday Celebration

Ring in the month with family and friends at our First Friday Celebration. On December 1st from 5:00pm-8:00pm in Downtown Dover, there will be festive activities for all! Grab dinner at a local food truck, enjoy live music, create some festive arts and crafts together as a family. Santa himself will be making an appearance, visiting merchants and spreading holiday cheer.

12th Annual Downtown Milford Holiday Stroll

Enjoy an old-fashion yuletide evening in Historic Downtown Milford at the 12th Annual Downtown Milford Holiday Stroll. This event will highlight downtown businesses, the local arts community, and restaurants. See strolling holiday carolers, enjoy local entertainment, including the Christmas Carol Band and so much more! Don't miss a special visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at Santa's House. The fun all begins on Friday, December 1st from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

A Farmer's Christmas

Visit the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village on Saturday, December 2nd and transport yourself to a winter wonderland, filled with games and activities for guests of all ages. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance, there to see their younger visitors, while the older guests enjoy mulled wine and holiday musical performances. Once you've enjoyed the inside of the Museum, the Avenue of Trees waits for you outside, providing even more holiday cheer!

Home for the Holidays Marketplace & Parade

Still looking for holiday gifts? We've got you covered at the Home for the Holidays Market! From 3pm-9pm on December 2nd, there's fun for the whole family in Downtown Dover: live entertainment, vendors, food trucks, and holiday-themed activities for children (and all the children at heart). At 6:30pm, be sure to join us for our first-ever evening parade in Downtown Dover, and end your evening with a visit to Santa's house on Loockerman Way Plaza.

Caroling on the Green

Be a part of our tradition in Dover this year! On December 6th at 5:15pm, join us for an hour of singing and holiday fun. Santa will be joining as well! We'll provide the song sheets — all you need to bring are a flashlight, warm clothes, and your joyful voices.

Lunch with Santa & Holiday Marketplace

On December 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 11am to 3pm, join us for our holiday gift market in the Loockerman Way Plaza. While the kids enjoy lunch from food trucks (and Santa's company), take care of last-minute holiday shopping or join in arts and crafts activities.

First State Symphonic Band Christmas Concert

Treat your ears to an evening of harmonious holiday tunes on December 15th! Head to Smyrna Opera House at 7:30pm to hear the First State Symphonic Band perform a Christmas concert that is sure to bring merriment to all. Make sure you give yourself enough time to grab a drink at the cash bar – doors open at 6:45pm.

From Santa and singing to shopping and dining, Delaware's Quaint Villages are home to some seriously festive holiday events — make a whole holiday weekend out of it, and browse hotels and lodging to make the most of your Kent County trip.
