Kenyan Mau Mau heroine Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima, a remarkable figure in the fight for independence, has transitioned to the ancestral realms on 4th September 2023.
Field Marshal Muthoni, renowned for her courageous actions alongside Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri in the rugged terrains of Mount Kenya and Aberdare forests, played a pivotal role in ousting colonialists from our beloved homeland.
There's no doubt she will continue to inspire other African women to get involved in the unfinished liberation struggle for Africa.
Today, we stand in solidarity with her family and the proud descendants of the Mau Mau War of Liberation as we grieve the loss of our revered Mother, Field Marshal Muthoni wa Kirima. It is with profound respect that we remember her, recognizing her unwavering dedication and leadership within the liberation movement, especially following the capture of freedom icon Dedan Kimathi. She served as his loyal personal assistant, stepping forward to lead the struggle after his unfortunate betrayal by collaborators.
