One of the most famous stories involving Enki highlights his relationship with Ninhursag, the goddess of fertility and healing. This tale not only reveals aspects of Anunnaki male sexuality but also intertwines themes of love, conflict, and reconciliation.

According to the myth, Enki and Ninhursag had a passionate love affair which resulted in the birth of several divine offspring. Enki's boundless curiosity and desire led him to impregnate Ninhursag multiple times, and from these unions, various gods and goddesses were born. One notable incident describes how Enki consumed forbidden plants, which led to him being cursed by Ninhursag. This curse caused Enki to suffer from various ailments affecting different parts of his body.

In a dramatic turn, the other gods implored Ninhursag to heal Enki. Moved by their pleas and perhaps her lingering affection for him, Ninhursag relented and healed Enki by giving birth to new deities, each associated with healing a specific ailment of Enki's body. This act of creation and healing underscores the regenerative aspect of their union and highlights the intertwining of sexuality and divine creativity in Anunnaki lore.
