GUNS USED BY AFRICAN KINGDOMS BEFORE COLONISATION

If you have Watched the Movie called "Woman King" then you have probably come across the term 'Agojie Warriors'.

The Agojie Warriors were an all-female army that defended the Kingdom of Dahomey.

Dahomey is a kingdom in the current Republic of Benin that was ruled by Kings and Protected entirely by Women soldiers. (Don't confuse the Kingdom of Benin with the Republic of Benin.....the Kingdom of Benin was in Modern day Nigeria, while the Republic of Benin was called the Kingdom of Dahomey).

The Picture above is a drawing by a Portuguese artist in 1870 depicting how an Agojie Warrior looked like..

The rifle was commonly used among soldiers in most African kingdoms.

Yes, African Kingdoms had guns.

Although not as advanced as the maxim gun
