Alhaji Abacha Maiduguri, the father of former Head of State General Sani Abacha. He was president of Northern Traders Amalgamated Union; an umbrella body of all northern business and trade unions.
He was instrumental to negotiating a better trade deal for northern traders in the face of monopoly of Syrian and Lebanese traders in the 50s.
