THE HEAD (ORÍ)

There is a force that remains with you all through your life, it is your most loyal and faithful friend. None of the deities can show you the benevolence that this force can show you, that force is identified by Ọ̀rúnmìlà as your Orí.

Ọ̀rúnmìlà in the Holy Odù Idigbe (that is Ìdí on the right and Ogbè on the left) Ọ̀rúnmìlà announced to his followers that "Ọlọ́mọ atúniṣe dé" (that his, the one who can bring salvation to a person has arrived);

And he then asked them, "who is capable of bringing salvation?" his disciples answered and said "it is Ògún", Ọ̀rúnmìlà said Ògún could not be the one because he was given to cutting people's head. He added that a person beheaded has not improved his life.

When he asked the question the second time his Awos replied him that Olódùmarè (God) is the one that improves one's life. Ọ̀rúnmìlà said it is not Olódùmarè because Olódùmarè watches as good people suffer bad fate and live at the mercy of wicked people. He added that God wasn't bothered about what happens to a person after such has been created.

But Ọ̀rúnmìlà still maintains that the one capable of improving one's life had arrived, and this time his disciples said it was him Ọ̀rúnmìlà; he laughed and said it could not be the one because when people come to him, he speaks to them in Parables and half truths. He illustrated by saying if there is a snake hiding at the back of a man's house, he would only tell that man not to go to the back of the house at night because there is danger there. And if in defiance to the warning, the person goes to the back of the house and sees the snake, he will run back inside. And only then will such person exclaim "Ọ̀rúnmìlà has told me not to do so".

When he posed the question again, his disciples confessed that they had come to their wits end, that they do not know who/what is capable of improving one's life. Ọ̀rúnmìlà then declared that it is only a person's head that follows him from heaven, through this world and determines what that person will become. If a person will become a king or a famous person, if he will be wealthy or have children etc, it is his head that does it for him. It is only a person's head and no other divinity that follows him back to heaven.

If Idigbe appears for anyone at divination, that person should be advised to serve his head with a pigeon, coconut and kolanut.

This Odù Ifá is teaching us that everything that we will become in this life is in the hands of Orí. All your life fortune is all in the hands of Orí.

Sometimes, it is not because you have found the right religion or you have some diligence that others don't have, it is simply your Orí at work.

In my life experiences, I have known that there is a spirit inside me that is different from the spirit inside other people (note I said different, not better); this spirit has been with me all through the times I was involved in the youthful exuberance, up to the time I was preaching as a Christian. What was in me remained constant in me, acting as the force of my life, pushing me into the thoughts, ideas and shaping me into the character that I need to be for what my destiny is.

While I was morally not so thoughtful about life, the force was there guiding, protecting and helping me overcome (many of my friends will know diverse challenges that we have risen from).

While I was also theologically innacurate about my worldview, accessing the spiritual and physical world in the linear Christian perspective, the force was with me working out in me to bring me to the fulfillment of my destiny.

This is not unique to me. Everyone of us has our Orí to thank for what we have become and are becoming. We also have our Orí to ask for that which we see that we ought to become but have not become.

The difference between Mr. A and Mr. B who are most likely in the same religion is one thing - Their Orí.

Your Orí is your most faithful friend. It is the central processing unit for your ability cum destiny fulfillment. If you are not in agreement with your Orí, it can send Èṣù Ọ̀dàrà your way to frustrate your wrong efforts in order to bring you to the right place.

When you pray out of a true heart seeking to know the direction of God for your life, it is Orí that you are praying to and it is Orí that guides you. Your Orí will not ignore you because you didn't know the difference between it and Olódùmarè. Orí is interested in your wellbeing. Orí will stay with you till the end.
