I do not support the unruly actions of Nnamdi Kanu in court, for not allowing the JUDGE to do his Job, he was supposed to allow him finish, he would have allowed him to read the law to him, he would have stated his point as he did, and then appeal the Judgement. He was charged on 7 counts which he could have defended if he has good lawyers, the Judge would have considered all, before pronoucing his Judgement. The Judge saw Kanu as someone who does not have human feelings for the lives of people killed by IPOB ESN in EASTERN NIGERIA, this is why Kanu should have defended himself well.
He said the Judge does not know the law, he said God punish them all.He was aggressive, he was not calm at all, he acted like he has more power than the court. This is unacceptable in any law court infront of a Judge who is deciding your case. It is seen as travesty and mockery of justice.
I must commend JUDGE ỌMỌTỌṢỌ for not sentencing him to death, but sentenced him to life imprisonment instead, looking into how Kanu was violently abusing him, telling a whole preciciding JUDGE OF THE HIGH COURT that he does not know the law. If he does not know the law, how did he become a judge to be preciding over your case? We need to stop being too sentimental, we all have to be responsible and accountable. THE Judge was fair based on the evidence of the accussations he had on his table against NNAMDI KANU, he can only decide on the case brought to him. This is why KANU should have smart legal defense lawyers to defend him and prove his innocence to the JUDGE, not telling a whole JUDGE he does not know the law, and you think you are making a point. No! No! Very wrong approach!
But was the judgement fair in a general view? The answer is CAPITAL NO! Terrorists are killing openly, the Government are negotiating with them, they are killing, raping, destroying farms with cows, even killing soldiers, but they are being pardoned. Buhari was after KANU NNAMDI, but they were negotiating with terrorists during his term in Government, Kanu was fighting for Biafra, terrorists too want to create Islamic State, they are killing people taking their lands, Kanu was doing revolution for Biafra, he was not grabbing people’s lands by killing them.
Kanu only transferred his anger to the JUDGE wrongly, he should have defended himself with all these evidences, that was the only error in his actions, the judgement could have been a fair one if terrorists are not pardoned and negotiated with,by the Government, but the Judgement is not fair in a general view, when considering the terrorist killings and Kidnappings. That’s the real travesty and mockery of justice.
THIS IS WHY NIGERIA SHOULD SPLIT, AND LET THE NORTHER MUSLIMS CONTINUE TO PARDON TERRORISTS. LET YORUBA NATION BUILD YORUBA LAND. LET BIAFRA BUILD BIAFRAN LAND. LET THE SOUTHERN NIGERIANS BUILD THEIR LAND. WE CAN THEN HAVE UNITED KINGDOM IF WE AGREE TO UNITE, BUT EACH NATIONS WOULD HAVE POWER OVER THE SECURITY OF THEIR NATIONS.
Igbo people who are shouting Yoruba court are morons, any Judge sitting in court has Job to do,based on the case before him. Goodluck Jonathan ruled before Buhari came to power, TINUBU and BUHARI joined political parties to remove him, that is politics. Tinubu was not in power when Buhari was abusing power for 8 years, he sacked the Chief Justice Walter Onoghen who came from Cross River because election was approaching, Buhari appointed Mohammed Tanko to replaced him. Justice Ọmọtọṣọ is doing his job as part of his duties, he is not at fault in anyway, he deserves his respect as the presiding Judge. JUDGE is not the one to fight but the whole system is the problem.
Appeal is another option now, court of appeal would decide if the Judgement should stand or not, before it would go to supreme court which is the final decision. Kanu Should avoid using violence or telling Judges that they do not know law, he would mess up his case with such attitude. Kanu’s actions in court is termed violent. There is no need to curse a Judge or Lawyers in court, because you can appeal the Judgement in higher court which is the court of APPEAL, stating your own defense. You need good lawyers not noise makers.Do not use your hands to scatter your own case, because so many people do not know how cases are Judged in Nigeria.
THERE ARE THREE POWERFUL COURTS :
SUPREME COURT IS FINAL.
COURTH OF APPEAL CAN MAKE A CHANGE.
FEDERAL HIGH COURT CAN JUDGE A CASE OF TREASON, TREAEONABLE FELONY AND ALLIED OFFENCES.
He was first arrested in October 2015 but he jumped bail in 2017 and left the country after a military raid on his home. The court later revoked his bail in March 2019.
Two years later, the government announced that he had been re-arrested. His lawyers said he was detained in Kenya and forcibly returned to Nigeria. Kenya has not commented until 2025 when a Kenyan Court ruled in favour of Nnamdi Kanu that his human rights were violated in Kenya.
In 2022, an appeal court ordered that the charges against him be dropped, saying he had been illegally arrested abroad, but this ruling was overturned by the Supreme Court the following year.
As you can see it now…. THE SUPREME COURT HAS THE FINAL SAY IN NIGERIA. The final written address is a legal rights for you to show the court why the Judgement should be in your favour, if you refused to file it in, you are at fault for loosing the opportunity to defend yourself. The Judge would decide your case based on what he has infront of him.
This is why I asked if Nnamdi Kanu understands the meaning of final written address he was shouting in court to Justice Ọmọtọṣọ, a presiding Judge over your case. You have to allow him to explain to you, you have to allow him to finish before you express yourself, or you take the judgement to the appeal court which is higher than Federal high court. If you claim you know the law, you cannot decide your own case, a Judge only can make Judgement based on evidence, intimidating a Judge makes your case worse, this is commonsense.
Do not take your anger to the Judge, but just defend yourself with your legal team, and go to appeal court if you do not accept the Judgement of the Federal high court. If you are not happy with the Judgement of the court of appeal, you can appeal in supreme court which is the final Judgement in Nigeria.
Knowledge is power.
